Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration for Spokane Homeowners

When fire strikes a Spokane home, smoke and water damage follow immediately. Jackson Renovation & Construction handles the complete recovery: damage assessment, fire and smoke restoration, odor control, water-damage remediation, and reconstruction. One point of responsibility from the first assessment through the final rebuild.

Emergency assessment

We prioritize fire damage emergencies and can typically schedule an assessment within 24 hours of contact.

The First Days After Fire Damage Matter

Before
After

Fire doesn’t just destroy with flames. Smoke infiltrates materials throughout the home. Water used to fight the fire spreads through walls and attics. Insurance paperwork and deadlines arrive quickly. The scale can feel overwhelming.

This is where an experienced, coordinated process matters most.

Our disaster-recovery experience began on the ground in post-Hurricane Katrina neighborhoods, helping families rebuild after total loss. Whole blocks, gutted and started over, with insurers and adjusters in the middle of it.

That work shaped how we manage assessment, insurance coordination, restoration and reconstruction today, and it’s why a Spokane homeowner gets one clear path forward instead of three contractors and a claim number.

Our Fire & Smoke Restoration Process

Three phases, nine stages, in order. Each one has to finish before the next is worth starting.

Stabilize

Stop the damage spreading and get the loss on record.

01

Emergency Assessment & Loss Prevention

We assess ongoing threats, including structural instability, secondary water damage and odor, and implement loss prevention measures like board-up and temporary dehumidification to keep a bad situation from getting worse.

02

Damage Documentation

We document all damage thoroughly for your insurance claim and work directly with your adjuster to support accurate claim assessment.

03

Contents Assessment & Pack-Out

Salvageable contents are packed and moved to protect them from further smoke or water damage. Items that can be restored receive specialized cleaning and odor treatment. We have a 600 square foot climate controlled and secure storage facility for our clients’ contents, located at our main operating center.

04

Structural Demolition & Cleanup

Damaged and contaminated materials are safely removed following applicable environmental and safety regulations.

Restore

Take the smoke, odor and water back out of the building.

05

Fire & Smoke Restoration

Our technicians hold IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician and IICRC Odor Control Technician credentials. Smoke permeates materials beyond the surface, so proper restoration requires techniques beyond standard cleaning.

06

Odor Control

Smoke odor is one of the most persistent problems after a fire. We use specialized techniques and equipment combined with source elimination to address embedded odor.

07

Water Damage Remediation

Firefighting water causes secondary damage throughout a home. We identify moisture in walls, attics, and crawlspaces and use commercial drying equipment with moisture monitoring before reconstruction begins.

08

Lead Abatement

Homes built before 1978 often contain lead paint, and fire and reconstruction work can disturb it. We hold Lead Abatement Certification #R-I-9057WA-26-00109 and follow proper containment and disposal protocols.

Rebuild

Put the house back.

09

Complete Reconstruction

Once restoration is complete we handle reconstruction: framing, structural repair, interior finishes, bathrooms, kitchens and flooring, with most work performed directly by our team rather than handed off to multiple subcontractors.

Insurance Coordination

Fire damage claims involve documentation, adjuster communication, and scope decisions that can feel overwhelming during an already difficult time. We work directly with your insurance company, provide documentation that supports your claim, and manage timelines so you can focus on your family and recovery.

Coverage itself is decided by your policy and your insurer. We can support a claim with accurate documentation, but we do not control the outcome and will not tell you otherwise.
